Temple Square

I haven't posted in a while so I figured that I should update the blog.  Here's an update on my personal training cert class:  I have finished the classes and have taken the test and will find out in a couple of weeks if I pass or not.  Once I pass I have to get CPR certified and then to a 40 hour internship so I have to find out which gyms I can do the internship with.  So right now I am just waiting to find out if I passed or not...

On a different note, this past weekend Declan and I did our annual tradition of going to Temple Square around Christmas to see the lights.  The last couple of years we have gone with LJ and Nemiha and it has been tons of fun.  I'm my niece's favorite (he he) so it was fun to walk around Temple Square with her and see her get excited over the lights and seeing Santa and Buddy the Elf.  Before LJ and Nem showed up Declan and I walked around the Gateway Mall and took a few pictures so here are a few pictures:

Declan, Me and my Neice at Temple Square

This picture and the next two are at Gateway

This weekend we are going to try to go to Zoolights with Declan's family so if we end up going I will post those pictures later.

Halloween

I  know this is a few weeks late but for Halloween Crystal and I dressed up for work and since 2 of the 4 girls at my work are pregnant Crystal and I decided that we were going to be pregnant so that all 4 of us were pregnant for Halloween.  It was a lot of fun especially when clients came in and thought that all 4 of us were pregnant and Darron, my boss, sure had fun calling us all "preggers".  Here is a photo of us all pregnant:

Left to right:  Hayley (really REALLY pregnant), Emily (really pregnant), Crystal (fake pregnant) and me (obviously fake pregnant)
Hayley ended up having her baby a few days after this picture was taken.  The girls at my work are AWESOME but I am sad that two weeks before Hayley had her baby one of the other girls had her baby so things won't be the same with those two girls gone.

Hypothyroidism

I went to the Dr's a couple of weeks ago to make sure that I was healthy and that everything was ok and while I was there they drew my blood to test it (this was the first time I have had my blood drawn since I was 11 so I was a little nervous).  I got my results back today and I have Hypothyroidism (If you don't know what it is Google it).  I'm hoping it's not too severe and that it can be treated with medicine because if it's too severe it can cause serious problems such as infertility.  I will be on a prescription for a month and then I will get my blood drawn again to see if has helped bring my Throid levels down to normal.  Hopefully the medicine will help.

Personal Training

Saturday is my first class for the Personal Training Certification and I am nervous and excited at the same time.  It's been such a long time since I have walked around a college campus (7 years) but I am excited to take a class and to learn something new.  I just hope that this will be a positive experience for me and that I will be able to use what I learn in the future.  I will post how the class is going in a couple of weeks.

Birthday

This past Sunday was unfortunately my Birthday.  I didn't do a whole lot on that day but Declan and I did spend a fun weekend together in Salt Lake.  Declan and I both had Friday off so we did a little shopping at the mall and Sniagrab.  Later that night we went to the movies and saw Crazy, Stupid, Love and laughed so hard.  That is a funny movie.  After the movie we drove to Salt Lake to stay the night at the Kimball.  On Saturday morning we got up and got some breakfast at Denny's.  After that we had planned on going to the Clark's Planetarium (I've never been there before) but it wasn't quite open yet so we walked a couple of blocks to go to the Farmer's Market.  The Farmer's Market was interesting.... After that we walked around the Gateway mall and did some more shopping.  Then we finally went to the Clark's Planetarium and looked at all the exhibits and took a few pictures.  Here are some of those pictures:

That's the Earth behind us

We are on Mars

Now we are on the Moon
After the Planetarium we walked to Temple Square and walked around there and then went to the new City Creek part with the fountains.

Then we walked around an art gallery (not sure which one) and then walked around the Salt Palace.  After that we got back in the car and drove to Sandy to go to the Living Planet Aquarium.  The Aquarium was pretty cool and we took lots of pictures there.  Here are some of them:

If you can't tell what's in the water, it's a alligator

That's an Anaconda that I am pointing at

The Anaconda again
After the going to the Living Planet Aquarium we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner and definitely enjoyed that.  After the Cheesecake Factory we went home and I came home to this:

Then when I went to work on Monday my desk looked like this:

My Birthday weekend was AWESOME but I am sad that it's over.

Birthday & Labor Day

So my birthday is coming up and I am going to be the big 2-7 and I always thought that I would never care about getting older but as I get older I almost dread my birthdays especially this year when I think that I am only 3 years away from being 30!  I am starting to panic a little at the thought of getting older...

Anyway, enough with the crazy talk...We spent Labor Day this year at Bear Lake which was fun but it wasn't warm enough to get in the cold water.  Plus Declan's sister Jen wasn't there and we definitely missed her not being there.  We didn't do a whole lot except get sunburned and no sleep.  We came home Sunday night and enjoyed sleeping in our own beds.  On Monday we went to Utah lake and I actually got in the water to wake board which was the first and last time this year and, speaking of getting old, I am feeling it today.  Here are some pictures from Utah Lake:

Randomness

The other day in the mail I got a brochure from UVU with some community classes that they offer and one of the classes is a personal training certification class that they offer in the fall.  The classes are on Saturdays and I am seriously considering signing up for it since this is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time.  It's not very expensive to take the class so hopefully I can come up with enough money to take the class before October.  Cross your fingers for me...

Now for some actual randomness...
The other day at work we had one of our Restoration companies bring in some treats and they happened to bring in a bunch of giant gumballs for each of us.  Some how the girls and I got talking about putting all the gumballs in our mouths and I told them that I could put all the gumballs in my bag in my mouth at one time and they didn't believe me and dared me to try so I accepted their challenge.  (when I was down at Snow College I chewed on 31 pieces of double bubble at one time)  We counted out the number of gumballs in my bag and there were 18 so over the next 45 minutes I proceeded to put all of them in my mouth which I did.  I didn't win anything other then boosting my pride...lol.  Here are some videos and pictures of that event.

Warning, if you don't like to see slobbery ABC gum I suggest that you don't watch the videos...lol

Lagoon

I know this is a few weeks late but Declan and I went to Lagoon with Declan's Cousins Kellen, His wife, Kylie, her husband and a married couple that is friends with Kellen. Kellen and his wife drove down from Colorado Springs to stay with us since we stayed with them on our way to Texas and we had so much fun together. Going to Lagoon with everyone was the most fun I have ever had at Lagoon. Janice (Kellen's Wife) hasn't been to an amusement park since she was little so Kellen wanted to go on every ride and that's what we did.

We ended the day riding Rattle Snake Rapids and getting soaking wet for our drive home.  Fortunately for most of us we had a short trip home but Kylie and her husband had to drive home to St. George right after.

The Group before we got soaked

Still dry...

We are soaking wet in this picture but you can't really tell
Later that night Kellen and Janice went to stay with his parents in Stansbury and then we met up with them on Saturday is Burley, ID for the Zollinger Family Reunion which we spent the whole day in the boat on the Snake River.  Declan and I got fried to a crisp and I am sad that I didn't get a picture of us.  Declan and I had so much fun with Kellen and Janice and are so sad that they live so far away so that we can't hang out all the time.  Maybe we can talk them into moving to Texas with us...

Feeling Down

people like to post mean things about me on facebook but they fail to recognize how that affects the people they are talking about or maybe their intentions are to hurt those people...either way, their not worth keeping in my life.

Joys of being a homeowner

I was cleaning my house last night after work because we have some family coming to stay with us in a couple of days and I opened the door to the furnace room only to find this:

This is a picture of our furnace surrounded by water.  It doesn't look as bad as it actually is in this picture because on the other side of the furnace is more water and it is being absorbed into the dry wall.

You can see the bottom of the dry wall is wet.

Declan is working out of town again so I was a little stressed when I found it and didn't know what to do.  I sent some pictures to Declan and he works with a guy that used to work with furnaces and he said that he will stop by in Thursday to see what's wrong.  Hopefully it's nothing too serious or nothing too expensive.  Yay for being a home owner...

Bear Lake

For Independence Day me, Declan and his family went up to Bear Lake like we usually do every year but this year was a little different.  The water was so high this year that there isn't really any beach left.  We got to Bear Lake Friday night to set up camp and was planning on finding a some sort of a beach on Saturday for us to hang out on.

When Saturday came we were going to go to the North Beach which is the Idaho side and is a state park but when we got there to launch the boat they were going to charge $22 to launch and they also didn't allow dogs on the beach which sucked for us because we had 3 with us. We planned to drive around the lake to try to find another beach and as we were driving the wheel on the boat trailer almost came off. We had to fix the wheel so Declan and his dad took the boat to a repair shop to get it fixed while Declan's sister and I went back to our camp to lay out and get a tan. They got the boat fixed after a couple of hours but the day was pretty much over so we grilled hot dogs and hamburgers at our camp. On Sunday we launched the boat (at the Utah Marina) and found a little beach that we hung out on pretty much the whole day while getting sunburned.  We even made a dutch oven dinner on the beach that was delicious. Later that night we hung out at our camp and watched the fireworks around the camp fire.

The little rocky beach

Nice and cooked

On Monday we were planning on going to the beach again but it was not good weather so we packed up camp and planned on going home. On the way home we stopped in Centerville and ate lunch at Chilis with Declan's family. We drove the rest of the way home and unloaded the truck and unpacked and then I ended the day getting a pedicure with Declan's mom, aunt and sister while Declan rested his sunburned body at home on the couch.

Declan's Surgery Continued

Declan finally had his knee surgery on Tuesday.  He had to be at the hospital at 10am so we got their at 9:45 am and waited until about 10:45am when they pulled him back to put his gown on and prep him for surgery.
Doesn't he look so cute...lol
After he put his gown on we waited another 15-20 minutes for them to clean a bed for him.  Once they got a bed they had him lay down and then gave him the IV which Declan said hurt.  About 50 different nurses came in asking Declan the same questions over and over like what is your name and birthday, what knee is getting the surgery and things like that.  The the Anesthetist came in and gave him a nerve block in his leg and then gave him Versed (not sure how to spell that) and then wheeled him off to surgery at 11:45am.  They said the surgery would take about an hour and a half so I went home and had some lunch.  I went back to the hospital and waited for about another hour until they finally pulled me back at 2:15pm.

Doesn't he look so sad

I took this picture when he was sleeping and he didn't know

I went and sat with Declan while the anesthesia was wearing off and he was not a happy camper.  He kept asking me how long the surgery took and was mad because they "chopped the hell out of his leg" and he really wanted to go home.  There was a patient sharing a room with us but there was a curtain separating the room and his machine kept beeping and Declan was getting mad because of the beeping noises.  He kept complaining that he couldn't feel his leg (because of the nerve block) and he was in pain.  They finally gave him some pain medicine which helped.  The nurse kept coming in and out checking on his vitals and finally Declan couldn't stand it anymore and asked if he could go home.  The nurse gave us the discharge papers and told Declan that he could get dressed.  When he was getting dressed he felt sick so he laid back down until the nurse brought the wheel chair.  She wheeled him out to the car and we left the hospital at 4:30pm.  I got him home with out him throwing up and had him lay on the couch and elevated his leg.  The hospital sent us home with this ice machine that circulates the ice water through the brace on his knee to help with the swelling.  He has been chilling on the couch and has been in and out of sleep because of the pain medicine.  Bowzer has been sleeping with him on the couch at night to keep him company.  Hopefully he will be able to get on his feet soon because the laying on the couch all day is killing him.  Feel free to stop by and visit him so that he is not bored out of his mind while I am at work.

Dogs

I don't have anything to really blog about but I thought I would post some funny pictures of my dogs that I found on my phone.
Bowzer got his head stuck in a bag.

Bowzer was trying to get Bugsey's attention

Texas

Last September Declan and I bought Six Flags tickets to use while we were visiting Dallas and we were planning on using them on a weekday so that the park wasn't super busy but we found out that Six Flags was only open on Saturday and Sunday in the Fall and it was too late for us to use the tickets.  So I called them to see if they would extend the tickets to the 2011 season and they said that we could but that we had to use them by the end of May 2011.  So we figured May would be a good month to go since our anniversary is in May.  Last time we went we drove the 22 hours in one day and it was horrible so we decided that we would drive to Colorado Springs, CO and visit Declan's cousin for a couple of days and then drive the rest of the way to Dallas and stay with his Aunt for a couple of days and use our Six Flags tickets.

We left on Tuesday and drove 9 hours to Colorado Springs which went by fast.  We visited that night with Declan's cousin and his wife.  On Wednesday the weather was super crappy (it snowed) so we couldn't do a whole lot outside but we went to an arcade that has all these super old arcade games and played on those for a couple of hours.  Later that night we went to dinner and watched a movie.  On Thursday we left for Dallas which was another 12 hour drive which seemed to take forever.  We got to Declan's Aunt's house at Midnight so we just went to bed.
On Friday we has planned to go to this awesome outlet mall so we got up had a little breakfast and then got ready.  Before we left we stopped to visit with Declan's aunt and uncle since we hadn't seen them yet.  We were standing in their kitchen talking with them when I passed out.  It was so weird.  I was standing and talking and then I woke up and I was laying on the tile floor while everyone was looking at me freaking out.  After that we sat on the couch for about an hour until I felt comfortable enough to go shopping.  We ended up spending a couple hours shopping and then we to Cheesecake Factory to have dinner to celebrate our 5th anniversary.  After that we came back we noticed some fireflies so we sat outside and watched those for a while and then went to bed since we were so tired.
On Saturday we were planning on going to Six Flags and were super excited to actually go this time.  We got to Six Flags and spent 4 hours and left.  It was middle school day or something because there was different groups like band, choir, dance that were there which made the lines way too long.  In the 4 hours that we were there we went on 1 ride (waited an hour) then got a drink and nachos.  The wait for each ride was at least 2 1/2 hours minimum so we figured that it wasn't worth it since it just took us 4 hours to do those 3 things so we left.  We ended up spending the rest of the night hanging out with his aunt and uncle.  We ate some dinner, played a fun card game, watched a movie and then went to a restaurant called Chedder's to get some dessert.
On Sunday we planned on driving the 12 hours back to Colorado Springs to spend the night with Declan's cousin again.  I was going to drive since Declan was tired.  We left his aunt's house and drove down the block to get gas.  After we got gas I went to start the car and it wouldn't start.  I started to get a little nervous since we were so far away from home.  We asked a guy that was getting gas next to us to give us a jump to see if it was the battery.  The car started right up with the jump so we drove to Walmart to get a new battery.  We bought a battery ($100) and went to put it in the car and it's the wrong battery.  We used their little machine to find out which battery we needed for our car but we couldn't close the hood cause it was too tall.  We take the battery back to get our money back and they didn't want to give us a full refund even though we had just bought the battery 10 mins before.  After some arguing they gave us a full refund.  we put the old battery back into the car and called Declan's uncle to give us a jump and try to find an auto parts store to get another battery.  His Uncle jumped the car and we drove to auto zone got a battery that worked and was able to drive the car the 12 hours to Colorado Springs.
On Monday we drove the last 9 hours home with out any problems.  Before we left we checked the weather to make sure that it would be nice and warm and it was supposed to be but while we were gone it was warmer in Utah then Colorado and Texas but when we got home it was cold and rainy.  The weather just doesn't like us.  unfortunately we didn't really take any pictures since we really didn't do a whole lot but I was able to get one picture that I think is pretty funny.  Here is is:
Ha Ha!  I am going to be in trouble for posting this but it's funny!!

Lighting Bolt

I was shaving Declan's neck over the weekend and was trying to scare Bowzer with the shaver (he's scared of everything) but surprisingly he wasn't scared of it so I touched him with the razor not thinking it would do anything but to my surprise it shaved a line...opps, my bad.  So I told Declan to shave a lightning bolt on Bowzer (I immediately regret those words) and he attempted to do so.  Lets just say that it didn't turn out anything like a lightning bolt.  Here is what it looked like:

After he "branded" Bowzer he wanted to shave a Z with a circle around in on Bugsey like you do cows but I wouldn't let him.  One special looking dog in enough in our household.

Roommate Reunion

So this past weekend I got together with all my 1st year Snow College roommates.  It has been 8 years since we have all been together.

From Left to Right Jana, Traci, Callie, Steph (and baby #2), Heidi (and baby #3) and Me
We met up at Costa Vida and had some lunch and we talked about the things that we have done since we left Snow.  Then we went over to Traci's parent's house and had some Bakery brownies and watched some videos that we made while we were there.  It was so much fun to catch up with all of them and hopefully it won't be another 8 years before we get together again.  Now I just need to get together with my 2nd year roommates.

New to this

I don't know why I started a blog since we don't have any kids and we don't have a whole lot to blog about but I figured that at some point we will have kids and really have a use for a blog but for now I will blog about our exciting kid-less lives (being sarcastic).
